This report summarises the participation of the GEF-UNEP Reindeer Herding and Resilience
(RHR) project at the Arctic Circle Assembly (ACA) 2025, Reykjavík, Iceland. This year’s
Assembly brought together over 2,200 participants from more than 70 countries, representing
one of the most vibrant Arctic gatherings.
The mission aimed to:
– Presenting Indigenous-led knowledge and research developed under the GEF-UNEP
RHR project;
– Strengthen the RHR project’s visibility, and mobilize networks around Indigenous-led
climate resilience;
– Engage with academic, scientific, Indigenous, and governmental partners;
– Facilitate dialogue on technology, mobility, and Indigenous knowledge in the Arctic;
– Explore opportunities for future collaborations relevant to land degradation, permafrost,
peatlands, and Indigenous youth capacity development.
