ICR collaboration with The American Museum of Natural History

GEF UNEP Reindeer Herding and Resilience project coordinator Marina Tonkopeeva visited The American Museum of Natural History in New York (AMNH). AMNH is now cooperating with International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry (ICR) with a new a three-year NASA grant project led by Dr Mary Blair at AMNH.

The project include reindeer herders as they adapt to climate-change-driven pasture degradation. The project, which is powered by remote-sensing data of the Arctic and sub-Arctic, is a collaboration between the Museum’s Center for Biodiversity and Conservation, NASA, the International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry at the UArctic EALÁT Institute, and other partners in Guovdageaidnu, Norway.
